How a Walkthrough Is Structured
An architectural walkthrough is structured as a shot list rather than a continuous camera path: an establishing view that places the building, a sequence of reveals ordered by what the viewer needs to understand, cuts between them rather than uninterrupted movement, and an ending chosen deliberately. Shots typically hold between three and seven seconds, and the piece ends when the argument ends rather than when the building runs out.
The most common architectural walkthrough is one continuous camera move that starts outside, drifts through the front door, passes through every room at the same speed and stops when the building runs out. It is smooth, it is technically clean, and almost nobody watches it to the end.
That is a structural failure rather than a production failure. The rendering may be excellent throughout. What is missing is a decision about what the piece is for, what it shows first, what it skips, and when it stops.
This guide is about that structure. It is not about how a walkthrough gets produced, which is covered elsewhere and at length. It is about the document that should exist before anybody opens a modelling application.
The shot list is the actual deliverable
Before any animation, the useful artefact is a list of shots: what each one shows, how long it holds, what the transition into it is, and what the viewer is supposed to take from it.
It takes an hour to write and it determines everything downstream. It also costs nothing to change, which is the entire argument for producing it: reordering a list is free, reordering rendered sequences is not.
A supplier who asks only for the model is about to move a camera through it. One who asks what the piece has to accomplish is going to build a structure first.
Why continuous movement loses people
A camera that never cuts asks the viewer to accept that everything they are passing is equally important, which is never true of a building.
It also removes the mechanism film uses to hold attention. Cuts create rhythm, and rhythm is what carries somebody through a piece that has no dialogue and no plot.

Start with the establishing shot
One view that answers where this is and what it is, before anything else happens. Usually exterior, usually wider than feels necessary, held long enough to read.
